Neighbourhood Watch Australasia
Neighbourhood Watch/Support is Australasia 's largest community based crime prevention program.
Neighbourhood Watch Australasia History
- Neighbourhood Watch began throughout Australasia in the late 1970's. In 2006, Neighbourhood Watch Australasia (NHWA) was incorporated to promote common themes and to identify common issues and identify good practice.
- NHWA developed an understanding that by committing to each other it could provide much more meaningful support and advice, not just to Australian States and Territories, but incorporating experiences from New Zealand .
Where do we want to be?
- Neighbourhood Watch Australasia has set a direction focusing on four key areas which build on the strength and success of the program.
- To strive for inclusive and sustainable communities which will see shared responsibility about community safety.
- To work towards a confident and informed society providing information and building social capital.
- To foster safe and secure communities through capacity building reducing the likelihood of becoming the victim of a crime.
- To commit to each other, and to you, that Neighbourhood Watch Australasia Incorporated is relevant, sustainable and plays a pivotal role in the support of state and territory Neighbourhood Watch/Support programs both in Australia and New Zealand .
